Mark Jones began his career at The Boeing Company 17 years ago as a software systems engineer with an emphasis on requirements definition and systems integration. As an employee of Boeing’s Integrated Defense Systems Mark was trained by the designers of systems for the B-2 Stealth Bomber, Space Shuttle, and many other famous engineering projects from our nation’s aerospace heyday. There, he learned the importance of bringing disparate data sources together. He spent several years on a team writing a middleware framework to let all company modeling and simulation programs interact with one another and found that bringing order to chaos for effective decision making was an incredibly satisfying career path.
Always an insatiable mapping enthusiast, he collected and endlessly studied maps as a young child. As Geographic Information Systems technology matured over the years, he jumped at the opportunity to work in the field as a software developer and eventually found himself at Maptelligent. Here, Mark gets to combine his interest in geospatial environments with computer science and problem solving. As a father to 3 school-aged children, Mark is motivated to use his technical skills to help address some of the most pressing problems of our times.
Most of John Doherty’s career has been in the field of critical communications. After his discharge from the U.S. Coast Guard, he started his career at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Labs. He worked on proof-of-concept high reliability space-based communications systems under U.S. Air Force contract, and later specialized in systems assurance.
John left MIT to take a job at Bell Laboratories working in undersea light transmission, also a high-reliability system. He also spent some time developing measurement techniques for components of the SOSUS submarine detection network and contributed to new materials research and development.
As Bell Labs and R&D in general changed, John decided to move more into commercial development. After 9/11 and subsequent events, he decided information sharing is where he should focus his efforts. Since then, it has been his privilege to work with many fine people, not just in the technology field, but also first responders, private industry, and public servants who are working tirelessly to make this a safer country. It has been the most rewarding time of his career.
John has a B.S. in Mathematics from Boston University.
Michael Ponschke has been a software engineer for 37 years, during which he’s developed his extensive background in wireless communications, protocols, and hardware control both as a developer and as a manager. Before coming to Maptelligent, he worked on a variety of groundbreaking projects, including creating a wireless email system which produced numerous patents (many of which he is an author). He wrote the software for the Childfinder, a frequency-hopping spread spectrum wireless locating device that lets parents find their lost children (which won first place at the 1996 Consumer Electronics Show). After authoring more patents while developing a 220MHz wireless data network, he started his own company and primarily worked on audio Bluetooth devices.
He came to work with Maptelligent as a contractor and then as a full-time employee in 2011.
